Heading straight out of Sheffield, The Talk bring an alternative rock/ indie style with them, often drawing for inspiration on the humorous, yet realistic blight of Northern city life. The likes of West Street, Last June and She’s So Lush paint a portrait in the grime, telling the story of love, lust and lager on a typical Saturday night in the big city. For me, the jewel on the album is Puzzle Piece, which grooves along with a dirty, dirty feel. If you get the chance to see them, pop along ‘cos they sneak up on you and often steal the show. Have you Heard…? Is their debut album and it is released on Sheffield’s own Native records. Spread the word, The Talk are coming… Ow Er Missus. – Zippi 2012.
